🔄 Is part-exchanging your car worth it? The 2008 Renault Clio Campus we sold to a returning customer

Published on 30 October 2026 · GSM Serveis Integrals Automoció, Vilobí del Penedès

It is worth it when you have nothing to do: no listing your car, no showing it to strangers, no queue at the DGT, Spain's vehicle registration office. On 14 October 2026 we sold, in Vilobí del Penedès, this 2008 Renault Clio Campus 1.2 16v petrol, 114,000 km, badge C, one previous owner, for €4,990. The buyer had already bought a 7-seat Dacia Lodgy from us in 2024: it is the second car he has bought from us in two years. He handed in the Lodgy as part-exchange at the top valuation and drove off in the Clio with a 12-month warranty and the ownership transfer handled by us. Here is how it works, what we check on a 2008 car before selling it, and where you can drive today with a C badge.

🧾 The car, no frills

The odometer read 114,180 km on 4 October 2026, the day we photographed it in Vilobí del Penedès. The listing said 114,000 km, and that is how it sold.

It is a 2008 car and we say so plainly: no screen, no camera, no Bluetooth, no parking sensors. It has air conditioning, electric windows, power steering and a radio, and a 1.2 petrol engine that any workshop in the Penedès can repair.

The price, €4,990, was a final price. Taxes, ownership transfer and warranty included. Turnkey price.

🔄 Your second car with GSM: how it works

This buyer bought a 7-seat Dacia Lodgy from us in 2024. In October 2026 he came back to Vilobí del Penedès for the second one, the 2008 Renault Clio Campus. He handed in the Lodgy as part-exchange at the top valuation, and the Clio was registered in his name on 14 October with the ownership transfer handled by us and a 12-month warranty.

That is what part-exchanging your car means: no listing, no strangers to show it to, no waiting to sell it before buying the next one, and no trip to the DGT. He came to Vilobí, signed and drove off in the Clio. Whatever had to be processed, we processed.

We knew the Lodgy: it left here in 2024. We publish no amounts, neither for the valuation nor for the deal. What you see in this article is the Clio's public price, €4,990.

Four: you drive off in the new one with the ownership transfer done and a 12-month warranty. Closing line: that is how the Clio Campus left on 14 October 2026; a 7-seat Dacia Lodgy bought here in 2024 came in, and you never set foot in the DGT.Your second car with GSM: howit works1. 1. You bring the car we sold you, or any other, to Vilobí del Penedès.
  2. We value it. If it left here, we know it: the 2024 Lodgy came in at the top valuation.
  3. That value is deducted from the car you take and you pay the difference.
  4. We handle the ownership transfer and you drive off in the new one with a 12-month warranty. You never set foot in the DGT.

What the 12-month warranty covers is in our article on the warranty, and what you save with the ownership transfer handled by us is in the one on changing a car's registered owner online.

🔧 What we check on a 2008 car before selling it

A 2008 Clio with 114,000 km is 18 years old. This is what we go through, with our trusted workshop, before putting it up for sale:

At the bottom, circled by hand, 114,000 km, and what was done on this Clio: throttle body · new battery · oil and filters · alternator belt · spark plugs and coil · new tyres · ITV · bodywork and paint. What we check on a 2008 carbefore selling itEnginecold start, noises, oil and leaksTiming beltthe 1.2 16v uses a belt: when was it changedClutch and gearboxno slipping and all 5 gears engageBrakes and tyresdiscs, pads and the tread on all 4 tyresRoad testaround Vilobí, Sant Martí Sarroca and La GranadaPaperworkDGT report, valid ITV and mileage that matches114,000kmon this Clio: throttle body · new battery · oil and filters ·alternator belt · spark plugs and coil · new tyres · ITV ·bodywork and paint

On this Clio, this is everything we did before delivery on 14 October 2026:

What was on the listing from day one is the mileage, 114,000, and the fact that it has no screen and no Bluetooth.

📸 Before and after: how it came in and how it left

This is the Clio on 11 June 2026, in the first photos we took, and this is how it left on 4 October, the day of the listing photos. In each pair, the June photo comes first and the October one second. The dent on the left side was on the rear door and its moulding; the scuff, on the front bumper. Both went through bodywork and paint. The ITV sticker it came with, from the Generalitat Valenciana, expired in September 2026: before delivery it passed the ITV again. It now carries the red ITV sticker, valid until 2027.

🏷️ Badge C: where you can drive today in the Penedès

With a C badge you can drive today across the whole Alt Penedès without checking anything: there is no low-emission zone in the county. Vilafranca del Penedès is exempt from setting one up, and its town council announced it on 4 December 2025; Vilobí del Penedès and Sant Sadurní d'Anoia have none either. From our workshop in Vilobí it is 8.1 km to Vilafranca, 4.2 to Sant Martí Sarroca and 4.5 to les Cabanyes, and you do all of that with any badge.

Alt Penedès: zero low-emission zones; Vilafranca is exempt by its town council's announcement of 4 December 2025, and neither Vilobí nor Sant Sadurní has a zone. Barcelona, ZBE Rondes: you get in today with badge 0, ECO, C or B, no registration; the zone is active on working days, Monday to Friday, from 7 am to 8 pm. Why it has a C: the DGT gives the C badge to petrol cars registered from January 2006, and this Clio is a 2008. 🚗 And the Lodgy?

The 2013 7-seat Dacia Lodgy that came in as part-exchange is being prepared in Vilobí del Penedès as our next arrival, and it already has its listing on our website. It follows the same path the Clio did: it comes in, gets checked, is photographed with the GSM plate cover and leaves with a 12-month warranty.

❓ Quick questions

Can I part-exchange a car I bought at GSM?
Yes. On 14 October 2026 the buyer of the 2008 Renault Clio Campus handed in the 7-seat Dacia Lodgy he had bought from us in 2024, at the top valuation. He drove off in the Clio with nothing to do: we handled the ownership transfer.

What do I have to do if I part-exchange my car?
Bring it to Vilobí del Penedès. We value it, the value is deducted from the car you take and you pay the difference. We handle the ownership transfer of the new car and your old car passes to GSM.

Where can I drive a C-badge car like this Clio?
Across the whole Alt Penedès with no restriction: there is no low-emission zone in Vilafranca del Penedès, which is exempt, nor in Vilobí or Sant Sadurní d'Anoia. In Barcelona's ZBE Rondes, a C badge gets in today without restrictions.

What does the €4,990 include?
Taxes, ownership transfer and warranty included. Turnkey price.
