🚗 Can you sell a car with 282,000 km? Yes: how GSM's 2007 SEAT Ibiza 1.9 TDI FR found its new owner
Yes, and with a warranty. A car with 282,000 km sells when the buyer knows what has been checked, pays a fixed price and never has to queue at the DGT, Spain's vehicle registration office. This 2007 SEAT Ibiza 1.9 TDI FR, red, 130 hp, was listed at GSM for €3,990 with a 12-month warranty and the ownership transfer handled by us. It arrived in Vilobí del Penedès in September 2026 as a part-exchange on the delivery of a BMW; by 27 October it belonged to a private buyer. Here is the whole process, from the day it arrived to the day it was registered in its new owner's name.

🧾 The car, no frills
- 🚗 SEAT Ibiza 1.9 TDI FR · 130 hp · 2007 · red · 5 doors
- 📊 282,000 km
- 💰 €3,990, final price (REBU scheme, Spain's margin VAT for used goods)
- 🏷️ DGT environmental badge: B
- 📍 Sold in Vilobí del Penedès on 27 October 2026 to a private buyer
The odometer read more than 282,000 km when we photographed it in Vilobí del Penedès, and that is the figure that went in the listing.
A 2007 Ibiza with 282,000 km is 19 years old, and it sells by saying so, with nothing hidden.
The price, €3,990, was a final price. The invoice falls under the REBU scheme, the one for used vehicles sold by a dealer in Spain: VAT is included in the price and not itemised.

📅 From September to 27 October: the whole process
The Ibiza arrived at GSM in September 2026 as a part-exchange: its owner, a private seller, was taking a BMW and handed this one over as part of the payment. We kept the Ibiza and it went through a general inspection at our trusted workshop before delivery. On 27 October the sale to another private buyer was signed. We handled the ownership transfer.
Dealcar, the software we use for listings and portals, counts it like this: sold in 32 days from the day we listed it.
- 1️⃣ Arrival (September 2026): it comes in as a part-exchange on the delivery of a BMW, bought from the private seller who was taking it.
- 2️⃣ Preparation: general inspection at our trusted workshop before delivery.
- 3️⃣ Listing: Dealcar listing at €3,990, photos with the GSM plate cover and the mileage in plain sight. Sold in 32 days from the day we listed it.
- 4️⃣ Sale (27 October): to a private buyer, with GSM's 12-month warranty.
- 5️⃣ Ownership transfer: we handle it; the buyer never sets foot in the DGT.
🔧 What we check before selling a car with 282,000 km
On a car with 282,000 km, buyers look at what has been checked. This is what we go through, with our trusted workshop, before putting a car like this up for sale:
- ⚙️ Engine: cold start, smoke under acceleration, oil leaks and noises. On a 2007 1.9 TDI it is the first thing to look at.
- ⏱️ Timing: the 1.9 TDI uses a belt. We check when it was changed and whether there is an invoice.
- 🦶 Clutch and gearbox: the clutch must not slip and every gear must engage.
- 🛞 Brakes and tyres: discs and pads, and the tread on all four tyres.
- 🛣️ Road test around the Penedès: the roads between Vilobí, Sant Martí Sarroca and La Granada have bends and climbs; that is where you feel what you cannot see standing still.
- 📋 Paperwork: DGT report for liens and history, a valid ITV (the Spanish MOT), and a mileage that matches the history.
This Ibiza had a general inspection at our trusted workshop before delivery. What has been on the listing from day one is the mileage, 282,000 km, with no touch-ups.

✅ What buying at GSM includes, even at €3,990
Buying a €3,990 car from a private seller usually means buying it as it is, with no dealer warranty and doing the ownership transfer at the DGT yourself. At GSM the Ibiza left with three things: a 12-month warranty, the ownership transfer handled by us, and your old car accepted as a part-exchange.
For you, the difference is what you save. If you buy from a private seller, the ownership transfer is yours to do at the DGT: an appointment, a fee to pay and a morning gone. If you buy at GSM, the car leaves in your name without you setting foot in the DGT. If a fault covered by the warranty shows up during those 12 months, we handle it. And your old car comes in as part-exchange the same day, as this Ibiza did in September 2026.
The warranty is 12 months. The ownership transfer is done by us, and what that means in time and euros is explained in our article on changing a car's registered owner online.
🔄 Your car as part-exchange: how this Ibiza came in
This Ibiza was brought in by a private seller who was taking a BMW from GSM and handed it over as part-exchange in September 2026. This is how it works:
- You show us your car and we value it.
- We put a value on it based on its condition, its mileage and its year.
- That value is deducted from the car you are taking: you pay the difference.
- Your car passes to GSM. What we do with it depends on its condition: the Ibiza was checked and sold in Vilobí with a 12-month warranty.
